Should Ward 5 Have Smaller ANC's?

At our August 5th meeting, the biggest unanswered question was how the ward should be divided into ANCs. Should we continue to have 3 large ANCs (each with 12 commissioners) or a larger number of ANCs, which would mean smaller numbers of commissioners in each one. Smaller ANCs could cover a couple neighborhoods, while continuing with the current breakdown means each ANC covers a wider range of neighborhoods.

To weigh in take the poll located on the sidebar.

  1. I definitely support splitting large ANCs. 12 Commissioners is too many. I think we should attempt to have set it so that each of the Commissions would have roughly the same number of Commissioners (where possible).

  2. We have too many commissioners and too many ANCs already!!

  3. I'm in favor of 5 commissions to tackle Ward specific issues at a granular level.

  4. It would be nice if residents were actually informed (because despite what "those in the know" may think, most residents have NO clue where to even find such information) of who their particular ANC is, what they actually do and how the process of contacting them actually works.

I speak for my entire block on this issue. Not one person knows their ANC and these are long-time residents.

  5. Is the poll asking whether we would prefer more ANCs that are comprised of few commissioners? Before I vote, I want to make sure I understand what the poll means "smaller ANC commissions".

  6. Yes. The poll is asking if the committee should consider a plan that creates more ANC's with few commissioners.
